Did you know that Maryland has it’s own First Nations tribe? The Piscataway of Maryland were featured this morning on WAMU’s Morning Edition. I was fortunate to attend one of their pow wow’s where I took some photos.

  1. I would be interested in the African Americans who belong to this nation and how they maintained the relationship seeing as others have been “expelled” from certain Native American nations. Nice photos as usual.

    1. Thanks for the comment. The Piscataway aren’t a recognized First Nation tribe – by that I mean recognized by the US government. They are still fighting for those rights. I suspect that the recent expulsions and in-fighting in the news are more prominent in larger, recognized tribes where millions of dollars in tribal income are at stake. Just a theory.
