Since Wednesdays are Blogging de Carnaval Lagniappe days where I bring something instructional here goes:
How do you make a carnival? Put all of these – and much much more – together in one whopping festival.
1. Adult commercial mas: Order your costume by going to the band’s website or their distribution center in Trinidad as early as possible after they launch their band (usually in the July or August preceeding the next carnival). Pay your deposit, and keep paying by the required deadlines. Collect your costume. Embellish and mend it. Get dressed, follow instructions and play.
2. Traditional or independent mas: Come up with a concept or adopt a band leader’s concept. Begin planning and preparing, creating your costume, and play.
OR, keep your costume from the past years, add a feather and play. Most time’s it’s the same bra and panty mass anyway so no one really notices that it is the same costume. Find a band and jump in.
