One of the wonderful things about Trinidad is the opportunity to witness colorful and diverse cultural practices throughout the year. Last week and weekend I was privileged to photograph the ending of an Orisha (Ifa) feast in Sangre Grande and the Hindu ritual called Ganga Dhara in Blanchisseuse.

There appear to be quite a few practical similarities between West African and East Indian traditions in Trinidad and Tobago. Someone I spoke with went as far as to say there are similarities among all indigenous religions. I think really the comparison was about rituals and religious traditions by many people of color such as Native Americans, Africans and Asians. More on these two festivals later but here are two images.
