Photo of the Week Debut:

Blessed – Woman at a (Spiritual) Graduation

Blessed: Woman at a spiritual graduation

My No. 1 Fan (she shall remain nameless just in case the No. 2. fan (or No. 1 depending on your perspective) finds out and they have words) has been encouraging me to post a “Photo of the Day”. So this is the first entry. I like this photo in part because when I took it there was something about her that really appealed to me. The photo was taken at the community graduation ceremony for Kwabena Duku Asiedu, my good friend, Lennard Jack in March 2009.

This lady entered and sat next to someone whom I assume was a good friend. They shared a joke and the laughter and mannerisms were really a treat to observe. It reminded me of someone’s momma, or two aunts or best friends (like my grandmother and her late “best” friend. Those two were two peas in a pod and always had something to “shoo shoo” about.  A few moments later, after the ceremony was completed, the singing muted, and the arrival of the ancestors, I caught my subject in a quiet, pensive moment.
