Pagwah is a hindi word used in Trinidad & Tobago for the Hindu Spring festival of Holi. This Brooklyn Jouvert band also calls themselves Pagwah. In the tradition of pagwah they spray themselves with abeer, or some other dye to mimic the activity of the actual Hindu festival. In the past three years I’ve observed them using themes that have to do with how people treat each other. I’ve yet to interview someone from the band. But you know, once I do, I’ll share with you.  For more Pagwah, Brooklyn Jouvert 2012 images click here.
