I just remembered something, the man is holding a baby. As I looked at this image again, I remembered that what caught my attention was that he was holding a baby in his arms. See how protective he is. I was trying to capture both of them, the awkwardness (and perhaps inappropriateness) of this little babe in arms in our Jouvert morning madness. Cuddling and protecting a tiny mite was the last thing in my mind as I crossed that stage, mask on face, camera in hand. But there you go, sometimes as a photog you get the priviledge of trapping something curious and special in the light.
You captured the spirit of the occasion. Even in the moment of merriment, there was the protective hand.
Glad that you are back. I thought it looked like a baby’s head, but i wondered!! I take it that your band did not have loud music, and I also hope that in later years when he/she gets carried away by the spectacle and power that is carnival, everyone would be cool with it. Thanks for the viewing.
